On August 30, CNMO noticed that a 5G digital mobile phone model “M481R” has officially been connected to the network. The applicant and manufacturer are both Zhuhai Meizu Technology Co., Ltd. Based on other information, it is speculated that the “M481R” is most likely a Hongqi mobile phone. However, as an automobile company, Hongqi lacks the technology and experience to produce mobile phones, so it chooses to cooperate with Meizu.
Public information shows that in April 2024, China FAW and Ecarx Technology signed a strategic cooperation agreement on smart cockpits, and the two parties announced that they would jointly create high-end mobile phones under the Hongqi brand. On August 27, 2024, information from China FAW’s official bidding and procurement platform showed that the platform had added a new “Hongqi mobile phone development technology procurement direct procurement candidate announcement”, and the supplier was Hubei Xingji Meizu Group Co., Ltd.
At present, although the official has not yet announced the configuration of the Hongqi mobile phone, the outside world generally believes that the appearance design and configuration of the phone may be consistent with the Meizu 21 PRO.
