Xiaomi’s smartphone shipments in Q2 2024 are approaching Apple, but Samsung still ranks first

On September 4, Canalys, an independent technology market analysis organization, announced the rankings of manufacturers in key global smartphone markets for the second quarter of 2024. Samsung still ranked first, while Apple and Xiaomi ranked second and third respectively.

Data shows that despite only a 1% increase, Samsung continued to consolidate its first position with shipments of 53.5 million units. Its high-end product line continued to drive growth in shipment value, while the A series products ensured the overall shipment scale through 5G differentiation. Apple maintained its second position with strong momentum in North America and Asia Pacific, with shipments of 45.6 million units. Xiaomi approached Apple with its competitive product portfolio, with shipments of 42.3 million units and a market share of 15%. Vivo returned to fourth place again, with shipments of 25.9 million units and a market share of 9%. Transsion ranked fifth with 25.5 million units shipped and a market share of 9%.

In terms of regions, in the Chinese mainland market, vivo ranked first with a market share of 19%, with sales increasing by 15%, while OPPO ranked second. Honor and Huawei ranked third and fourth respectively, with Huawei’s sales growth rate reaching 41%. Xiaomi ranked fifth with a market share of 14%. In the Indian market, Xiaomi became the best-selling smartphone brand in India with a share of 18%, and vivo also ranked second with a share of 18%. In the US market, Apple’s position is still difficult to shake, with a share of 56%, Samsung ranked second with 22%, and Lenovo ranked third with a share of 12%.
