It is revealed that the Samsung S25 will still be equipped with Exynos 2500. Is the Snapdragon 8 Gen4 gone?

Earlier this month, South Korean media reported that Samsung plans to adopt Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 25 Gen 8 mobile platform on all models in its Galaxy S4 series.

On the X platform (formerly Twitter), the well-known whistleblower @theonecid shared a screenshot of an application showing the hardware and software details of the device. According to this screenshot, this device is from Samsung, equipped with an s5e9955 chipset (believed to be the model code of Exynos 2500), with a 10-core CPU, Xclipse 950 GPU (Samsung is expected to use this GPU in the next-generation chipset), 14GB of memory, running Android 15 system and a display with a resolution of 3200 x 1440 pixels.

However, some foreign media pointed out that the word “ERD” was mentioned in the system name classification in the screenshot. According to the media, “ERD” means “Exynos Reference Design”, which means that this may be a device used to test the Exynos 2500 chipset, not necessarily a Galaxy S25 series phone.

If this is true, there is still a chance that the Galaxy S25 series will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. Samsung is said to want to “use only high-performance components” in its upcoming flagship phones to eliminate any doubts about performance. This is one of the reasons why Samsung is said to be planning to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen4 instead of the Exynos 2500 in the Galaxy S25 series.
