On September 12, @数码闲聊站 broke the news that new phones equipped with the Dimensity 9400 chip will be equipped with a two-way satellite communication function, but this feature may only appear on the 1TB top-end models, which are expected to include vivo X200 Pro and OPPO Find X8 Pro. The blogger also mentioned that although there will be a wave of new phone releases at the end of the year, interest in satellite communication functions is not widespread. Except for Huawei and Honor, most manufacturers will only add this function to their high-end versions.
The main difference between two-way satellite communication and traditional one-way satellite communication is the two-way nature of communication. One-way satellite communication usually only supports one-way transmission of information, such as receiving weather forecasts or emergency information; while two-way satellite communication can achieve two-way transmission of information, that is, users can not only receive information from satellites, but also send information to satellites, and thus communicate with other users at remote locations in real time.
At present, some mobile phones on the market already support two-way satellite communication. For example, the OPPO Find X7 Ultra Satellite Edition has this function. It uses satellite antenna pattern control technology to achieve satellite call functions that support both handset and hands-free modes. This means that users can put the phone to their ears to make calls like using a normal phone, without the need for specific angles and postures to communicate like some other devices that support satellite communication. Similarly, the vivo X200 Ultra also supports two-way satellite communication.
