Recently, CNMO learned that according to the latest news from digital blogger “Smart Pikachu”, the latest large and small folding screen mobile phones from OPPO and vivo have been launched, and both are planned to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8Gen 4 mobile platform, which means that these two new phones will become the first folding screen devices to adopt this flagship chip. It is reported that these two folding screen mobile phones continue the family design language of their respective brands, maintain their iconic circular module design, and are expected to be officially released in the first quarter of next year.
Regarding the detailed configuration of OPPO’s large foldable phone, according to previous market reports, the thickness of the phone may be controlled at around 9.xmm±. In terms of design, the new phone also introduces a practical three-stage button, and has made significant upgrades in body structural strength and waterproof performance. In terms of imaging, the new phone will be equipped with a rear 50-megapixel triple-camera system, including a periscope telephoto lens, and it is estimated that Hasselblad imaging certification will not be absent.
As for the vivo Fold, although the specific details are not yet completely clear, the significant increase in battery capacity has become one of its highlights, and it is rumored that it will jump to 6000mAh level.
In terms of system optimization, both OPPO and vivo will conduct deep customization and optimization at the software level to better adapt to the folding screen form.
According to a CINNO Research report, in the second quarter of 2024, the sales volume of China’s foldable screen mobile phone market reached 2.62 million units, a year-on-year increase of 125% and a month-on-month increase of 11%, maintaining a high triple-digit growth for four consecutive quarters. With the gradual resolution of key issues such as battery life, weight, and software adaptation, the foldable screen mobile phone market is expected to usher in a more rapid growth period.
