Canalys: iPhone 13 sales reached 129 million units, the most shipped 5G mobile phone

On September 18, data agency Canalys released a report titled “Interpretation of Apple’s Conference Strategy: New iPhones and Ecosystem Optimization Open a New Chapter in the Future of AI”. The report pointed out that at the fall 2024 conference, Apple launched a series of new devices, focusing on promoting the development of AI, functionality and user experience. In addition, Canalys also revealed that iPhone 13 sales have reached 129 million units.

Canalys said the iPhone 16 series will become the hardware foundation for future Apple Intelligence development opportunities and also mark a key upgrade.

Canalys analysis shows that the reason behind the narrowing of differentiation in Apple’s iPhone 16 series products is the balance between performance and price. The report believes that while narrowing the performance gap between A18 and A18 Pro may reduce the differentiation of the Pro series, improvements to non-Pro models will increase their appeal in emerging markets. Providing more affordable and feature-rich devices gives Apple a stronger competitive advantage in regions such as India and Southeast Asia.

In addition, Apple’s growth in emerging markets is critical to offsetting the impact of slowing growth in mature markets such as the United States and Europe. Canalys said that improving non-Pro models may be a key upgrade strategy for Apple to launch for users of the iPhone 13 (the most shipped 5G model in history). Data shows that iPhone 13 sales have reached 129 million units throughout its life cycle.
