Foreign media: Samsung S25 series all Snapdragon 8 Gen4 price increase is inevitable

As the release of Samsung Galaxy S25 series is approaching, the latest news about this series of flagship phones has attracted widespread attention. Samsung usually launches two versions of Exynos and Snapdragon in its flagship models, but the latest news shows that the S25 series may all adopt Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen4 mobile platform, and this change has caused heated discussions in the market.

According to Korean media reports, Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen4 SoC, Qualcomm’s upcoming high-end mobile processor. This news is quite unexpected, because the industry generally expected Samsung to launch its own Exynos 2500 processor to drive the Galaxy S25 series. Looking back, the Galaxy S24 series used the Exynos 2400 processor in most markets, while the Galaxy S24 Ultra was equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen3.

However, this time Samsung seems to have decided to switch to Snapdragon in order to improve overall performance by adopting the highest performance components and respond to consumers’ concerns about the performance of the Exynos version. It is rumored that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will achieve a significant improvement of about 30% in AI and GPU performance.

However, this change is not entirely positive. Foreign media reported that the exclusive use of Snapdragon processors will certainly be welcomed by fans of the Galaxy S series, because the Snapdragon version has always been superior to the Exynos version in performance, but it also means that the price of the Galaxy S25 series will increase. Well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo pointed out that the price of Snapdragon 8 Gen4 is expected to increase by 25% to 30%.

Specifically, the price of Snapdragon 8 Gen3 is about $190 to $200, while Kuo predicts that the price of Snapdragon 8 Gen4 may fall between $237 and $260. This means that the overall cost of the Galaxy S25 series will increase, which may lead to an increase in retail prices. For consumers, while enjoying higher performance, they also need to pay more for this upgrade.
