Hanmei: Samsung Galaxy S25 may adopt Snapdragon mobile platform for the entire series

Although Samsung’s next-generation flagship Galaxy S25 series is not expected to be released until January 2025, leaks about the series have been endless. Recently, Korean media revealed news about the new machine’s processor.

According to the Korea Economic Daily, all three models in the Samsung Galaxy S25 series will use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 mobile platform. This will be a major change, because for a long time, Samsung has used both Snapdragon and Exynos processors in its Galaxy S series phones every year, except for the Galaxy S23 series that uses Qualcomm Snapdragon and the Galaxy S6 series that uses only Exynos processors.

The media also pointed out that a chip called “Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 for Galaxy” is under development and will be dedicated to the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This suggests that the Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus may use the standard version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. This change is different from Samsung’s current practice, as Samsung usually uses overclocking-optimized custom chips for Galaxy in all Galaxy S series phones equipped with Snapdragon chips.

In addition, Samsung is reportedly still working on improving the yield and performance of the Exynos 2500 chip, which was previously thought to be used in some Galaxy S25 models. It is worth noting that Samsung is considering using the Exynos 2500 chip in the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and/or Galaxy Z Fold 7, both of which are expected to be released in the second half of 2025. However, as of now, Samsung’s folding screen phones have never used Exynos chips. It may be too early to expect to see a folding screen phone equipped with an Exynos chip in 2025.
