On September 10, Huawei released the world’s first mass-produced tri-fold screen mobile phone. Yu Chengdong said that Huawei’s tri-fold screen mobile phone will rewrite the history of the industry, turn science fiction into reality, and lead a new era of folding.
On September 11, CNMO noticed that a well-known whistleblower Digital Chat Station revealed that after Huawei, the industry predicts that the first manufacturer to follow up with a three-fold screen mobile phone is likely to be Honor. After all, Honor’s sales in the folding screen category are second only to Huawei, and the three-folding screen product is obviously beneficial to the brand’s high-end process.
As for other manufacturers, OPPO, vivo, and Xiaomi are all steadily advancing dual-folding screen mobile phones. The iterative products of OPPO Find N series, vivo X Fold series, and Xiaomi MIX Fold series are already on the way. Some manufacturers have already started to deploy triple-folding screens, but are still taking a wait-and-see attitude. In addition, Transsion, a Chinese mobile phone manufacturer that mainly focuses on overseas markets, has previously released its first triple-folding concept phone, Tecno Phantom Ultimate 2, but the official has not yet disclosed the mass production time.
It is worth mentioning that not long ago, another whistleblower, “Factory Manager is Guan”, revealed that Honor’s three-fold screen is very complete, with a built-in large-capacity battery and a thin and light design. However, Honor’s three-fold screen mobile phone is “too late” to be released this year and will have to wait until next year.
Based on other information, CNMO predicts that in 2025, dual-folding screen mobile phones will still be the mainstream of the industry, and there will be only three or four mobile phone manufacturers mass-producing triple-folding screens.
