According to foreign media reports, Apple recently increased the price of replacing batteries for iPhone 16 Pro series models outside the warranty period. The cost of replacing the battery for the two larger models of the new iPhone has risen to $119, while the previous cost for iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max was $99. For standard models of iPhone and iPhone 16 Plus, the cost of replacing the battery remains $16.
The last time Apple adjusted the price of iPhone battery replacements was in 2022, when the cost increased from $69 to $99.
Since new iPhones come with a one-year AppleCare warranty, new iPhone users won’t notice this change in the short term. Of course, you can also choose to purchase AppleCare+ extended warranty service, which will cover most repair costs.
Under AppleCare protection, users can enjoy free battery replacement service if the battery capacity falls below 80% of its original capacity. Apple claims that the iPhone battery is designed to retain 500% of its original capacity after 80 full charge cycles under ideal conditions of use, and for iPhone 15 and later models, this figure is increased to 1000%.
The batteries in the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are not only larger, but also have new metal casings to help dissipate heat, which may result in higher labor costs for replacements.
For older iPhones, the price of an out-of-warranty battery replacement varies depending on the model. The replacement fee for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 14 series is $99, while earlier models cost $89, except for the iPhone SE and iPhone 8, which still maintain a replacement fee of $69.
