Samsung suspends One UI 6.1.1 update for S23 Ultra due to camera issues

On September 19, CNMO learned from foreign media that Samsung announced the suspension of pushing One UI 6.1.1 system updates for S23 Ultra because of issues affecting camera functions in the update.

It is worth noting that the camera problem did not affect the S23 and S23+ models. Users of these two phones can still receive and install the One UI 6.1.1 update normally through the “Software Update” option in the phone settings.

For S23 Ultra users who have updated to One UI 6.1.1 and are experiencing camera issues, Samsung has provided a temporary solution. Users can enable the “Intelligent Optimization” feature in the settings of the camera app and set the optimization quality to medium. Although this setting may slightly reduce image quality, for most users, using this setting when shooting at 16x to 19.9x zoom can effectively avoid problems.

In addition, users can also choose to use Samsung’s Expert RAW camera app as an alternative. Although the Expert RAW app limits the zoom to 20x, it provides rich camera control options, and users can take photos with similar quality to the native camera app under default settings. Users only need to find and launch the Expert RAW app in the “Mode” section of the camera app.

The camera problem did not affect the video recording function. Samsung said it will release a new system update as soon as possible to completely resolve the problem.
