Samsung Z Fold6 special edition revealed to be slimmer, limited screen size tweaked, may be released in September

Recently, it was revealed that in Samsung’s upcoming Z Fold6 series, an ultra-thin version of the phone rumored to be “Slim” may not be as slim as expected, but may be released as a “special edition”.

Now, foreign media reported that the Samsung Z Fold6 Special Edition did not meet the market’s previous high expectations in terms of thickness reduction. Specifically, in the folded state, its thickness is 10.6 mm, which is only 1.5 mm thinner than the standard version; in the unfolded state, the thickness is 4.9 mm, which is 0.7 mm thinner than the previous generation. Although this change is reflected, it has not reached the remarkable level of lightness and thinness.

Previously, there were rumors that Samsung planned to remove the S-Pen tablet in pursuit of extreme thinness, sacrificing some stylus functions. However, from the current revelations, this move did not bring the expected significant slimming effect, which may mean that Samsung has made a new trade-off in balancing function and form.

It is worth noting that the Samsung Z Fold6 Special Edition has made fine-tuning in screen size, with the internal screen expanded to 8 inches and the external screen increased to 6.5 inches, a slight increase compared to the standard version (6.3 inches internally and 7.6 inches externally).

As for the release strategy, according to the information revealed earlier, the Samsung Z Fold6 special edition will adopt a limited market strategy and will only be launched in China and South Korea. It is expected that the model will be first released in South Korea on September 25, and then quickly land in the Chinese market.
