Apple updated the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max this year, increasing the display size . The iPhone 16 Pro’s display size increased from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s display size increased from 6.7 inches to 6.9 inches.
Thanks to the reduced bezels, the iPhone 16 Pro models now have the thinnest bezels of any Apple product, according to Apple. But the iPhone 16 Pro models are slightly taller and slightly wider than their predecessors.

Although the size has increased, the display technology has actually changed little. Apple is still using the Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion on the Pro models, and the brightness and peak brightness have not changed. All models have a maximum brightness of 1000 nits, a peak HDR brightness of 1600 nits, and a peak brightness of 2000 nits outdoors.

The only new feature is a minimum brightness down to 1 nit . Apple is adding this feature to the Apple Watch as well, and says the device will allow for more frequent updates of the always-on display, complete with a second hand. Some of the same benefits may be available on the iPhone as well, which could be one of the reasons why Apple was able to extend battery life.
Although the iPhone 16 display also supports a minimum brightness of 1 nit, it does not have an always-on display function and does not support ProMotion.
All four new phones are equipped with the new second-generation super-ceramic panel . Apple says that its hardness is 50% higher than that of the iPhone 15 models.
